Happy New Year! A New Year a New You… Although it may sound cliche, a new year is the perfect time to set goals that will make a happier and healthier you.
The New Years Resolution seems to be a waning thought for many of us. Studies have shown that almost 80% of people fail to even make it to February when trying to stick with a New Years Resolution long term. The Reason that many people fall off the resolution train is not because of lack of will power but because they have set unrealistic expectations/goals for themselves.
It’s not too late to make sure that you set goals that are attainable and successful long term.
Here are some ways to stay on track with your 2022 goals.
Keep your goals specific - Creating vague goals to get fit, lose weight, or be overall healthier is a sure way to lose sight of your goals after a while. Instead of vague goals; create specific ones such as running a half marathon, losing 20 pounds, lifting a specific amount of weight, or eating vegetarian four nights a week. Creating a routine and getting closer to your goal each day will keep you on track.
Giving up if you get off track - Giving up is something that we do all too often. Many people give up after failing to reach their goal the first time. If you fall off track remember WHY these were your goals and commit to yourself for yourself. We all fail but the difference between failure and success is persistence.
Not making a plan - Creating a goal and nailing down a plan that will help you achieve that goal is instrumental to seeing it through. Make sure that your plan includes the specifics of your goal such as days to complete your goals, milestones, and ways to get back on track if you veer off course.
Let’s make 2022 our year of achieving our goals!!
