If your goal is to improve your gut health, decrease disease risk, or improve immunity, probiotics can make a prized addition to your daily dietary routine. Reading about many strands and brands online can be overwhelming, especially trying to find the best probiotics that are best for women. That’s correct; some probiotic strains work differently and have different effects, and so a careful selection of heavily-researched probiotics is essential to find the best strains to fit your specific needs.

1.  Lactobacillus Acidophilus

Research suggests that this probiotic strain may help increase iron bioavailability to increase red blood cell status, encourage absorption of iron minerals, and reduce the risk of anemia.

2.  Lactobacillus Reuteri

Once digested, L. reuteri balances tryptophan and maintains the levels within the gastrointestinal tract. Studies have found that this strain promotes the production of molecules necessary for gut protection. Increase in gut motility and the reduction of overall gut discomfort has been linked to diets rich with L.reuteri.

3.  Lactobacillus Rhamnosus

This probiotic promotes healthy digestion and function, helping the body absorb the required nutrients without any discomfort or pain.  Studies have shown that L. rhamnosus has been shown to have immune-boosting properties, with the ability to combat bacteria, fungi, infections, parasites, and viruses.

4.  Lactobacillus Salivarus

It’s essential to have a large number of beneficial bacteria for the digestive system to remain healthy. L.salivarus is one of the high-proliferating and fast-growing probiotic strains, a useful function that enables it to overwhelm the harmful bacteria in the gut microbiota.

5.  Lactobacillus Helveticus

The immune system is an integral part of who you are, providing protection and peace of mind needed to feel your best. L. helveticus provides the immune system with an additional boost to staying healthy, strong, and to resist infection.

6.  Lactobacillus Casei

Being the most well-documented and widely-researched probiotic strain, L. casei is commonly used to help women to alleviate symptoms of a wide range of digestive complaints. Studies have suggested that L. casei may help women looking to manage weight and boost liver function.

7.  Lactobacillus Plantarum

Studies have shown that L. plantarum has been found to increase absorption of essential minerals such as calcium and iron as well as producing B-vitamins. Other benefits include promoting detox from heavy metals and improved brain, kidney, liver, and digestive health.
