An apple a day can keep the doctor away.... Apple season is here. If you haven't gone apple picking yet, I highly recommend it, since it's a fun activity that will get you hyped for Fall.
Apples are super nutritious. One medium sized apple with a diameter of 3 inches equals about 1.5 cups of fruit and contains the following nutrients:
95 calories
Carbs: 25g
Fiber: 4g
Vitamin C: 14% of the Reference Daily Intake (RDI)
Potassium: 6% of the RDI
Vitamin K: 5% of the RDI
*Plus a 2-4% of the RDI for manganese, copper, and vitamins A, E, B1, B2, & B6.
Apples may be good for weight loss since they are high in fiber and water, which make them filling.
Apples promote heart health in several ways. They're high in soluble fiber, which helps lower cholesterol. They also have polyphenols, which are linked to lower blood pressure and stroke risk.
Eating apples is linked to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes, which is possibly due to their polyphenol antioxidant content.
Apples have several naturally occurring compounds that may help fight cancer and prevent cancer.
Apples promote good gut bacteria due to their prebiotic effects.
In conclusion, Apples are incredibly good of you and eating them may lower your risk of many major diseases, including diabetes and cancer.
