Many people make the mistake of starving themselves when trying to lose weight or eating the wrong foods at the wrong times. But when done correctly, intermittent fasting is an incredible tool to help drop weight and burn your body’s own fat for energy…
When you don’t consume calories for a few hours, your body will start depleting excess glucose that’s stored in your body from eating carbohydrates. Intermittent fasting can be used to help you enter ketosis faster.
There are several different ways you can do intermittent fasting. They all work a bit differently so try which one works best for you and your lifestyle:
This is the most popular way of intermittent fasting, and this seems to work well for most people since it’s easier for us to naturally eat this way. A typical window would be 8 and 16 where you eat for an 8-hour period and fast for 16 hours. This typically means skipping breakfasting and not eating until noon or 1 pm each day. Most people report having more energy by skipping breakfast even though many people were taught that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s interesting how perspectives change over time.
This is a different approach where you eat normal meals most of the week, and then you incorporate fasting either on a weekly or monthly basis. You can either eat normal five days out of the week or choose two days to fast, or you can simply throw in a 36-48 hour fast periodically. Fasting on alternate days can be really flexible for some people as it lets you customize your week, or you can plan ahead for an extended fast that suits your schedule.
This involves skipping just one meal out of your day, and this also seems to work well if you’re new to fasting. It’s also a convenient way to save time and money if you’re traveling or stuck without food for a certain meal. Just be sure to plan ahead and not overeat on your other meals
Regardless of how you choose to do intermittent fasting, it’s a great tool to drop your daily caloric intake, deplete excess glucose, burn fat and enter ketosis quicker.
